Extreme winter sports are nothing new to the alpine city of Rossland. After all, a Norwegian Miner, Olaus Jeldness, first introduced the crazy idea of downhill skiing to Canada way back in 1897 on the slopes of Red Mountain which overlook the city.
Continuing in that tradition on January 25th thru the 27th, the 111th annual Rossland Winter Carnival will feature an amazing lineup of unique events that could only be done in the Kootenays.
